Ford Model 62 saloon 1936 for sale

This is a 1936 Ford Model 62 it has 22 HP 2.2-litre V8 engine and was first introduced in 1936. Wheelbase is 9 ft 1/4 in. The Saloon is the only body style offered and cost £210.
This is a very rare type of Ford V8 now and the predecessor of the Ford V8 pilot.
This is an original English (Dagenham) designed car.

The car was Purchased new by Lt. Robert Edward Mc Donnell.
A brief History of Robert Mc Donnell otherwise known as one of the “Kilsharvan pair”, a WWII Hero
On February 16th 1941 a young soldier called Robert Edward McDonnell, a Lieutenant in the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars, died from his wounds while serving during World War II in Barce, North Africa. He was just 26 and was buried in Benghazi War Cemetery in Libya. While that anniversary is tragic in itself, it's compounded by the fact that Robert's father was also killed serving with the British Army, this time in WWI.

The car after Edwards death was released from the Army Camp in Dorset that Edward was based and was returned to His Mother In Ireland in 1953 who lived at the Kilsharvin Estate, Co.Meath. The mother used the car for a number of years afterwards it went into Long term storage in a private Ford Collection from where I purchased the car and completed a full restoration on the car over 4 years.

A complete restoration has been done on this car over the past few years. There is been no expense spared in getting the car to the condition it is in today.

Engine has been completely rebuilt by its previous owner. It is running prefect and starts very easy. Radiator has been restored. Gearbox is prefect and shifts great.

Car has been rewired fully at vast expense.
The original Distributor would have double points in it, I sent the original casing off to the USA where there was an electronic ignition put inside that leaves it running so smooth!
Original style new coil purchased in the USA.

The body has been restored and resprayed. There is was no rot on the car before it was started just that the paint was down to the bare metal in places.

All the interior has been replaced. New carpets, Seats and door cards recovered, new headlining, and a new exterior roof covering.

Chrome has all either been replaced or re-chromed. I have not re-chromed the bonnet Mascot as it is not the exact correct one for the car.

Car is running great, starts easy, drives great on the road and the brakes all work perfect.

A rare early British Ford V8. Restored to a very high standard in my opinion. Running great and has only been at two shows in Ireland since completion and has got Car of the Show and Best overall Ford at the second show. A real head turner of a car with a fantastic History to go with it.
Please no time wasters or dreamers

I am happy to answer any questions on the car and it's condition, or, if you require more information please contact me.
I have more photos of the car that I can send upon request although viewing is highly recommended.
