Only 5 short chassis MKIIs were bodied as two seaters, the remainder being the more normal 2/4 seater tourers. This car is the only remaining complete example of two similar cars bodied by E. Bertelli Ltd. with clear styling cues from the very attractive long chassis 4 seater cars, featuring the signature sloping rear with spare wheel, first seen on the 1933 Le Mans Special 4 seater.
This very original car is undergoing sympathetic re-commissioning in the Ecurie Bertelli Ltd. workshop, following decades of storage with practically no use at all.
It was decided to rebuild the engine with a new cylinder block complete with new steel crank and rods. The engine is at the 'short block' stage and can be completed to any specification, up to 110bhp 'full race' if required.
The remainder of the car has not been touched for a very long time but because of its relative lack of use it is in overall very good condition; though it will need some minor mechanical work, a rewire and some attention to the radiator to enable the car to be used with complete confidence. When completed this will make for a very attractive and comfortable touring or rally car and one which will always be one of the rarest of all the Bertelli Astons.
In 30 years I cannot remember a 2 seater MKII coming on the market, so this is very unusual opportunity to own an exceedingly scarce and very attractive pre-war Aston.
This very special Aston will come with a respectable history file which includes a number of early photos.
