Buick Roadmaster Sedan 1940 for sale

This 1940 Buick Roadmaster Model 71 Roadmaster Touring Sedan demonstrates many of the reasons why Buick was successful far beyond its allotted position in GM's aspirational ladder in the late 30's and early 40's. It is handsome to contemplate while still imposing enough and endowed with sufficient sparkle to attract attention that marked its owner as someone whose accomplishments had earned success and recognition. Its big 320 cubic inch "valve in head" straight eight "Dynaflash" engine delivered 141 horsepower and 130 lb-ft torque at just 1,000 rpm. This outstanding example received a meticulous restoration in the late 80's winning it an AACA National First Prize in 1988 and a Grand National award in 1991. It still looks the part, having been carefully maintained and preserved in succeeding years. Its Black exterior and Grey striped wool cloth upholstery is set off by wide whitewall tires on steel wheels with hubcaps and trim ring. The interior trim is beautifully woodgrained in a caramel grain around the windows and a burlwood pattern below that delightfully accents the engine turned dashboard and instrument panel. Remarkably, everything including the heater, horn, lights and instruments works as intended by Buick. The interior is both accurate and beautiful, even the plastic dashboard knobs have been restored as-new. It is a tribute both to the restorer and the owner for whom it was done and a rare and attractive example of a luxury four-door Touring Sedan that has been treated to a full, meticulous, sympathetic and accurate restoration that has demonstrated its quality by standing up essentially flawlessly for over two decades.
