A fresh Czech engine Mystery (upd. pre 1910 Ballot? Bianchi? )

mystery engine
Josef Kubista is seeking help with identifying this monobloc four cylinder (found in the Czech Republic). So with the help of a local forum, but so far nobody has a clue. The size appears to be 67 x 110mm. Everything else is in the pictures, no marking except for 1926 /16/ 23-3 (date of manufacturing?). Josef has some ideas but he likes to hear the opinion from abroad expert first without bringing in suggestive gambles first.

David,

I am not the owner of this engine but from my understanding the only numbers are those shown (I think this is stamped on the cylinder reinforcement leg). You can get in touch directly at pepcak(at)volny .cz

Hello Josef, Is there an engine number stamped anywhere? I do not think it is a Ballot, just of similar date, but if you can find a number I could confirm that it is not Ballot, all their stuff was numbed logically.

Guys,
thanks for all the feedback! Thanks to Dave for the pictures of Ballot engine.
Now, I agree that in mid 1920s this engine would have been really way old fashioned and around 1910s looks more likely as a manufacture date. The Ballot engine is similar, but still differences are numerous. My thoughts were around Adler 6/25 (67x110 engine) or Stoewer (C1, B1, C5, D2) that were also similar size. Unfortunately I was not able to find (enough) pictures on-line so would appreciate any pictures to confirm or deny this direction.

So Jiri thinks it is a Ballot, but mid 20s. As I said it looks like a Ballot , but certainly not mid 20's.
More like pre 1910. I will send you a picture of a 1910 Ballot for you to compare.

Příteli Kubišto,domnívá m se,že se jedná o motor Ballot, ale nejsem si jist a spíš z doby, která je datována na motoru, tedy polovina dvacátých let. Jirka Schwarz

I doubt if it as late as that William. I still reckon pre 1910.n77z4

Regarding the dating. I think that '1926' is more likely to be the engine number whilst the year of manufacture could well be March 1916.

I very much doubt that is a 1926 engine. The numbers are cast, usually dates are stamped. Where are they anyway? I cannot see any bronze parts in the other photos.
It looks similar to very early Ballots, pre-1910. I would guess it is from around that time. Maybe a Chapuis Dornier?

I would suggest that the engine may have been found with the cylinder block removed [as in the third image] hence the rust on both pistons and rods. These were romoved from the crankshaft and the cylinder block replaced [without the pistons and rods] as seen in the first image.

Maybe Chapuis Dornier?
