Stuart Graham found this Darl'Mat in a garden in Sussex. It had an extensive racing history. I tried to swap it for my Morgan, the owner said no! When he died it passed on to the Eastbourne Motor Museum and when that owner died the last I heard of it was that it had gone to Germany but was in a terrible state.
editor: anybody who knows what came of this car?
UPDATE II: the car is now in Holland with Tony Paalman. UPDATE photo sent by Arnoud van der Sman of a Darl'Mat at Brooklands , see also his remarks under Comments. Could it be the same car? |

At the present we are restoring it.
I had never seen one of these cars before and it was love at first sight.
I cannot remember what the asking price was but it was beyond my pocket at the time.
Also for sale was a Morgan Plus 4 which, I was told, had a Kieft tuned engine and had belonged to Pauline and Lionel(?)Mayman well known Midland race and rally competitors.
Unfortunately the car was found in a far more sorry state than the picture above...
I have a lot of documents and period pictures of this cars which prove it is indeed the Dorothy Patten car.
I will post this picture aswell.
I think it is the same car because there must be very little RHD Darl'mats
The Darl'mats were built on a Peugeot 402 chassis and , as far as I know, these only came in LHD.
Peter Mullin owns a RHD Darl'mat
but his is a Cabriolet and not a roadster like the one on this picture.
