Bertha Benz a comic babe?

carl-benz-comic-1
If there's one way to get the kids interested in our hobby, it must be by presenting them a story in a comic book. This one, by Martin Grünewald and illustrated by Willy Harold Williamson has just been released. It tells the story of the troubles Carl Benz faced while building his first automobile. And of course there's the story of his wife Bertha Benz, whose first long-distance drive is legendary. As far as we can see all details of the Benz Patent Motor Car are amazingly accurate drawn and both Carl and Bertha are very recognizable. Do you have to be a kid to appreciate a book like this? We think not!

The comic book, "Carl Benz - A life dedicated to the car" is available in four languages: German, English, French and Chinese.  The comic will be sold through booksellers, but may also be ordered online from the MB Classic Store.

It appears that the vehicle is very accurately drawn, even down to the spoking of the wheels.
They appear to be Radially spoked, as is the current trend.
However, herein lies the problem, they do not transmit power well for very long, before requiring truing up again ! see :

Maybe, if we can suggest the modification of 3 cross tangential spokes, then Mr Benz's vehicle may well catch on and turn out to be a popular vehicle in say 100 years from now !
