Winning caption: "Drive me to the moon."

In times of war and petrol rationing all sorts of alternative fuels are experimented with. In WWI town gas was one choice. One of its problems was the size of the container that was required to carry it to give a worthwhile mileage. This amazing picture is of a 1913 38hp Lanchester so equipped. Thje driver would have to be careful not to choose a route with low bridges. The bag and presumably the conversion has been supplied by Barton Bros of Nottingham whose main business was that of running a fleet iof buses and coaches. A number of these were converted to gas as well. Quite why the photographer has posed a small child in what appears to be a home made pedal car in the picture, is not known.

EDITOR: Well, well, well, this was a highly inspiring photo with 33 senders, wow! We took an hour at a quiet lonely location every house has and decided that Peter Dew's "Drive me to the moon." was best. In our view it connected with all aspects of the picture in various ways. Peter congratulations!
