How to get warm inside

mg-va-lago-maggiore-1In our part of the world it’s cold, bitterly cold and the freezing Dutch are already thinking of the world-famous Elfstedentocht. To get a bit warmer, we thought to show this nice -almost sunny- pre-war spot at the Lago Maggiore. But wait, there’s more to this picture than first meets the eye. Zoom in to the cars on the left. Looks like someone is having a spot of trouble. We think the reluctant starter is an MG VA Drop Head Coupe. They were quite heavy, so the two men pushing the MG will get even hotter!

My suggestion would be to repair that VA engine and replace it for the fragile MPJG-engine in the MG TA and there you have the quick and light prewar twoseater MG you always dreamed about...that is if ofcourse if you can't afford a K or N type ;-)

Bas should know as heis an expert on these cars has owned at least two of them. But I have had mine for 49 years with no water pump problems

I am surprised at Bas's assertion as I have had experience of this design of engine in Wolseleys for nearly 60 years and I would have thought fuel or electrical problems would have been the most likely cause of failure to proceed,but who is knows? The main weakness in these engines is the white metaling.

Stuart, I wrote the story! And being an MG adept all my life, I'm fairly positive it's not valet parking. LOL!

Maybe this is the Valet Parking, moving the cars for the upcoming street party, judging by all the tables assembled ?
Ask Rutger Booy, he'll know if it's likely to have broken down !
