A friend of Alexander Schmidt found this large engine, length nearly 1 meter or 40 inches. No makers name was found, except on the front - he had to look at it with a mirror- it seems to read: "W & Strouk" . A short internet search only produced the advise to look for better spelling of the word...... Possibly Strouk is not the engine builder, maybe it's only the foundry, but well it is a lead. Same for the Zefan gasfilter carburettor combo in the picture below. German made? Engine turns over freely, magneto is missing. Unfortunately there are no better photos available of the domed radiator, also not sure it always was with this engine whcih may have a marine history. Over to you... editor: see the remarks of Wilfried Brunner below, plus photos of his own Wolf & Struck engine. |

Following the Zefan Carburettor trail, led me to the 1922 (1922 MY) Selve SL8 automobile engine
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=298111
Following this lead led to :
Selve Automobilwerke AG, a car maker located in Hameln (near Hannover, Germany).
Having taken over the Northern German Automobile Works, which made the Colibri and Sperber cars, it was already producing Basse & Selve engines for the automotive industry.

The car has a definitely domed, radiator top, and the car sizes produced, fit in with this engine size.
Could this be the engine's owner ?
