731 classic cars on auction
From today through 20 January a massive parkinglot will be auctioned by Barret Jackson, Scotsdale, Arizona. Most cars are post war, yet there are also some very interesting pre-war examples like this 1923 Austin Seven Chummy. It stayed many years in the Harrah collection before purchased by the present owner. Some other interesting entrees are a Rolls-Royce 1934 Ranalah Sedanca, a 1936 La Salle Co... |

For the happy very few.
Let's sell the Arab horse and buy something different to have some fun in the weekend. Yes, why not a 1933 GP Maserati? Except for the maintenance you can't go wrong with one like this. Every detail gorgeous. Speed no problem. Sound outrageous. Your friends will say your taste is OK. There's only one 'but'... So few around. While waiting(or saving)click the photo for a full size pic to enjoy the d... |

The Viper was not the first interesting Chrysler.
Yes it's a Chrysler. To be exact it's said to be the 'Golden Seal Special' 1932 Indy racer that now resides in Europe. It's nothing what you expect a Chrysler to be. * cylinders, almost 6 L engine fed by three Winfield carburtettors. Just clic the pic and see the retro face pasted on a modern Chrysler at daimlerchrysler.com (photo by editor)... |

UPDATE: MG 'Symphony'
Shame on us !!! We overlooked the important content of an incoming e-mail. The owner of this MG came along and of course could tell us the identity, but also named the website he created around this wonderful one-of by Park Ward. See & reed all about how it was found and restored on the very nice website by proud Dutch owner Hemmo de Groot. More MG reference wanted? Clic the pic.

UPDATE: Once upon a time in Noth Dakota.
99 out of 100 times we don't know where a photo was taken. So we stopped asking. But now the man who sold me the photo -David Huff- came up with the most probable solution and a short lecture in geology: 'The photo came from the Red River Valley of North Dakota, and is most likely made there. The Red River Valley is the bed of glaciallake Agassiz. Glaciers periodically coming down from the north b... |

Guess before you click...
This very nice layout dash is from a big European producer that is still in existence. But it's not the kind of refinement you would expect of them. The very nice inlay woodwork, the perfect layout of instruments and switchplate. It all ads up to one of the greater, low volume makes. Wrong, so wrong. Just clic the photo and amaze yourself in a superb gallery. Or click to enlarge (photo editor)... |

UPDATE: Rosemary's Fordy probably a Chevy.
Thank you model T riends for your amendments: they all suggest tht 'Mia's' Coupe is a Chevy.-----------------------------------------------------------
Either you hate or you love Mia Farrow. But you have to admit that she is showing a strong resemblance with this vintage beauty. I am better in identuifying American girls then cars, but this one looks like an early Model A Coupe. Right or wrong? ... |

Hmmm.... a nice fat scrutineer for breakfast.
Do you like the prizes or do you like the scrutineers? Or worse, maybe you are a scrutineer! Loved by the winners, despised by the losers. This world of real car fanatics is divided in many ways. In nutters and chequebookers. In brass polishers and grease addicts. In drivers and navigators. In dealers and buyers. In Pebble Beachers and and scrapyard diggers. But don't you worry it's also a world w... |

UPDATE: New home, new suit, new car.
Reid Pierce wrote us he is using exactly the same car as shown as daily driver: it's a 1930 Pontiac. Thank you Reid! --- Earlier feature was: Sometimes we find amazing photo's like this. At first glance nothing special. But then you suddenly realize the houses in the background are as new as the car! The colonial style wooden housing we don't see new very often today, or do we? Nor the new Pontiac... |

Looking for an American Hispano photo.
One of my readers sent this story: 'My mother born '05 talking to a contemporary about her first car and the ticket she DIDN'T get, I overheard when I was young. A Hispano Suiza was her pride and joy, and she drove quite fast and well. Crossing a minor bridge in San Francisco bay area, she was stopped by a motorcycle cop who informed her she was doing 85 and what was her hurry? She replied she was... |

Not the statue, the car is Goliath.
The make Goliath started in 1931 and was succesful in marketing small threewheeler pick-ups & vans. Only two years untill 1933 this two-seater - the Pionier- was in production and very few are left. Though it's one of those forgotten makes, it's good to know that there are always people around who cherish the little ones. Clic the photo you end up at 3-wheelers.com of Elvis Payne, who designed a m... |

Monty season !!!
While forests burn near sunny Sydney, temperatures in Western Europe drop sharp and loads of snow are coming in. That's about the time a handfull of enthousiasts is fettling their cars for the ultimate wintertrip. The Monte Carlo Rally for classic cars. At least three competing organisations sell their own version. And as far as we know they are all well oversigned. Yes, we love to pull the hood d... |

Lovely 1923 smile...
This year we'll try to keep our promise to show a vintage lovely every Thursday. But don't you think it is simple to find them. So if you have a nice girl in your family album, please tell us. Especially with a smile like this twenties gal. Not less lovely is her Roadster in the background. Please inform us, is this a Model T or what? More lovely lines to be amired at NorthStarGallery.com when you... |

Let's start a colourful 2002
Although we have an affectionate relationship with black@white history we are very much aware of the fact that these cars often were very colorful. Even the T Model 'as long it's black' saying is not completely true. The first production year you could buy the Model T in no less than four different colours. To speed up production Henry decided to forget about the colour and took the paint that dri... |

Old car, old photo, old year...
The last photo this year. Scruffy in al respects. The paper is torn and folded. There's a flare in the shot, exactly over the most interesting part. The car is scruffy as well. Not only even the chassis is distorted. But yet, it's one of the photo's I like best. Look at the detailing. The laundry in the background. The Garage sign above the car. The quick release radiator fillercap. The radiator c... |

Take care with fireworks (UPDATE: Dennis)
We are not absolutely certain how other countries behave on new years eve, but here in Holland we throw away some $50.000.000 on firecrackers etc. within the first hour of 2002. Accidents do always happen. So please take care. This firebrigade truck was shot during the last London-Brighton run. It was so fast we couldn't see the make. La France? Anyway it was a lifesize confrontation with the Lesn... |

Buick people.
To non US-citizens a Buick is just a few acres of non-descript sheetmetal. But when you live under the jurisdiction of Uncle Sam Buick is a cult. You can't imagine how many websites and forums and chatboxes are dedicated to this car that left Detrot since 1903. The photo is showing a 1910 Buick Model 10 Roadster. So says the shaky handwriting on the back of the photo. And continues: 32' in length... |
