Quiz ArchiveAbout Quiz # 207 1930 Stutz Last week’s clues were probably so obvious that many of you quite rightly concluded that the dashboard was from a Stutz. But which Stutz? There it became difficult. Some suggested a Black Hawk but most of those had an oval shaped dashboard. The year was also difficult, some mentioned 1927, 1928 or 1929, but in fact the dashboard in question came from a 1930 Stutz Model M, 2 passenger Speedster by LeBaron owned by Carl and Carrol Jensen. After years of searching for a Stutz, they actually purchased this car from a close friend. They know its history to about 1950 and have talked to family or friends who know the car back to that point. There are extensive files, documentation and even awards from "vintage" rallies in the 1950s and 1960s. After resting in the Hartford Heritage Museum (in Wisconsin) for about the past fifteen years, they are now slowly bringing it back to life and on the road.
Although several of you came very, very close (Paul Freehill, Bill Peretti, Hugh Nutting and Dick Trenk) only one contestant, apart from jury members Kit Foster and Mark Dawber, came up with all the right answers… Ced Pearce from Johannesburg, South-Africa. Congratulations Ced, the T-shirt is on its way and we can only hope that it arrives before the previous one is completely worn out. Friday, 20 July 2007
