About Quiz #229: Adler.

We had 6 competitors who came up with the right name: Adler! Dr. Heinzgerd Schott (1x winner), Vladimir Perkic, Lars-Göran Lindgren (jury), Reg Harris, Gerard Lansink (2x), Ingo Jost (1x). The model is a 1936-1938 front wheel drive 1,7 liter EV four window cabriolet by Karmann which recently came in in the news. The difference between the 1,7 litre and the later 2 litre model is only to be judged from the wheels. The disc wheels of the two litre - introduced in '38 - show ventilation holes. In the end it came to a very close finish between Reg Harris, Ingo Jost, Gerard Lansink and Heinzgerd Schott who won in the end, because he gave the difference between the 1,7 and the 2 litre. Congratulations! (see his answer on the next page)
quiz suggested by Adrian Pascu-Tulbure from Romania, photo courtesy of the Freiberg Archiv. Dr. Heinzgerd Schott: " the snapshots show a fwd Adler Trumpf 1,7EV from Frankfurt (Germany), coachbuilder Karmann (Osnabrück), 1936-38. In 1938 a 2 Liter 45HP-engine followed. Both cabrios had identical optics, but see the disc-wheels: 1,7EV had those without, 2EV those with holes. Trumpf appeared in 1932, constructed by FWD-pioneer Hans-Gustav Röhr as 1,5L,32HP. 1932-34 Adler offered a twin-model called Primus with RWD. Trumpf with revolutionary streamline-body won the 2 Liter-class at 24 Hours of LeMans in 1937 (6th over all). 1948-show was "Hannover-Messe", but only 2 prototypes of smaller 1Liter Trumpf Junior were shown.
