About quiz # 232: 1936 Dodge sedan

We agree that last week’s quiz was difficult. We agree the little details were difficult to spot. Although the most distinguishing features like the grille and bonnet were missing, still many of you recognized the wreck as a Chrysler product. Some mentioned Plymouth, but the differences with the Dodge are subtle but conclusive: our wreck shows the left lamp drooping on its grille mount, while the Plymouth has them on stalks from the fender. Only jurymember Dick Trenk spotted the clue we gave you when we wrote the words “WINNER” and “BEAUTY” in capitals, as this Dodge was advertised as
The Beauty-Winner of 1936! Two other correct answers came in. Frans Vrijaldenhoven mentioned Dodge but wasn’t sure, so we had to go with Eduard Hattuma who wins with his short but effective: “Dodge four-door sedan 1936”. Eduard, who collects photos of Dutch street scenes, now also joins the ranks of the distinguished jury members. Congratulations! (With thanks to
Kit Foster for the picture and the details; and to
Mclellans Automotive for the leaflet).
