About quiz # 239

This car was on display at the AACA Fall Meet in Hershey, last October. About 80 yards from the PreWarCar stand. This must have been in the Red Field, around RWD 20. No less than 5 competitors were correct with the make Meisenhelder: Ted Wilmarth. Paul Vaughn. Bob McAnlis, Jeff Hammers, Jeff Lee. In view of a total production of probably five as well, that is an amazing result. Now the sign depicted above - the plate on the car - is not very much parallel with reality. The car is to be seen at YouTube and described as a 1923 built car, based on a 1922 Paige. Check!. The sign above also says the car has a 141" wheelbase, which is 10" more than the Paige Daytona chassis. Paul Vaughn gave the best answer in our view: "It is a Meisenhelder, most likely assembled in the mid-1920's by a York, Pennsylvania sheet metal/body man named Roy M. Meisenhelder who formerly worked for the Pullman Motor Car Company, also of York. Interestingly, the car is based on a very modified 1922 Paige Daytona chassis. The frame was lengthened by 12 inches. It has the original 66 hp Continental engine and under the spun aluminum wheel covers are the original Paige disc wheels and hub caps." Congratulations Paul! (Are you the YouTube man?)
