About quiz 243: Mercury

This was a tough one as proven by the small number of answers we received. We received the photo from Nick Haines, who wrote: “… a photograph of my grandfather and his sister in
their father's car, a Mercury, most likely an 11.9hp. We believe this photo to be taken about 1921-22. To our knowledge, none of these cars remained but my father owns the radiator badge and maintenance manual from this car.” Only three mentioned Mercury, Vladimir Perkic, Reg Harris and Jurymember Peter Ransom. A difficult decision, but in the end we went for the more extensive answer by Reg Harris: “The Medina Engineering Company Ltd. produced cars at Twickenham, Middlesex from 1914 to 1920 after which date they became Mercury Cars Ltd. also in Twickenham and continued to 1923. The subject car would have been made in this latter period and is one of three models of 9.5, 10.2 or 11.9 hp. They were produced in either two or four-seater bodies and only approx. 200 were made.” Congratulations Reg!
