Quiz ArchiveAbout Quiz # 273: 1927 MG Super Sports Almost all answers were correct in stating that last week’s quiz car was an MG, but then the difficulties started. In fact it is a 1927 MG 14/28 Super Sports, one of the first with the flat radiator instead of the previous models with the Bullnose radiator, just before it was replaced by the 14/40 Mk IV. But by just looking at the photo it’s impossible to tell whether this is a 14/28 or the later 14/40. The real clue about the year was in our mentioning that it had two badges, a Morris one on top and the MG Octagon on the honeycomb. Before 1927 no MG badge was fitted to the radiator and from very early 1928 the Morris badge was omitted. What we also wanted to hear from you was the name Cecil Kimber, who was the father of the MG. (We would have given bonus point to those who mentioned Hubert Charles as he was instrumental in designing these MG models, but alas, nobody mentioned him). From all answers received one stood out above the others, mentioning all that we wanted to hear from you. Congratulations to Jeroen van den Akker on his first win! See ´Read More´ for all other correct entrants.
