About Quiz #292. A 1934 Studebaker Giant's Worldfair Building Replica

studebaker_1934_giant_worldfair_300This was a tough one to crack. The various layers of reality involved must have discouraged a lot of you. Hereby a solemn promise, that next week's quiz is easier. But be sure to check today's postwar quiz.
Now what do we have here. Yes, it is model. And it looks very much like the 1934 Studebaker Landcruiser. Yet the answer is on the bootlid: Replica of Giant's Worldfair Studebaker. Wow was that a show!!! Be sure to check this video how they literally threw around saloons on a backyard size circuit!). Anyway no less than five jurymembers came up with the right answer. And not one other competitor? Wrong.
Robbie Marenzi came up with by far the most complete and accurate response (edited for length): "It appears to look like a 1934 Studebaker President Land Cruiser, but it is a 6.75 inch long die cast model by National Products of Chicago, and embossed on the boot lid it reads “REPLICA OF THE GIANT WORLD’S FAIR STUDEBAKER”. Remembering the great success of the 1931 giant Studebaker, for the 1934 Chicago World’s Fair, Studebaker erected a giant, wood and plaster, Land Cruiser, it was 80 feet long, 28 feet high, and 30 feet wide. The running boards were 21 feet long, the windshield wiper 3 feet, and the tyres 12.5 feet. It was painted Canary Yellow and below the running board was a door to an auditorium that could seat 80. The models were cast at the fair and could be bought for 25 cents." Congratulations Robbie with your well deserved second win.
