About Quiz # 296: 1941 Plymouth P12 deluxe
Correct with Make and Year are: Tom St. Martin, George Cassidy, Goran Flank, Nick Crea, Harry Schley and from the jury: James Helms, Mark Dawber, Gerard Lansink who protested severly about the maltreatment of the original. The correct answer is 1941 Plymouth P12 Special DeLuxe, like this orginal sent by Gerard Lansink. Decisive to say it is a 1940 or 1941 are the three back fender lines. You probably had to gamble a little to say it is a P11 or P12, but that was part of the game this time. Most compact and correct answer without hesitation was from Harry Schley: "Plymouth P12 Coupe from 1941. The Car has not the original Engine." (the engine is plastic mock-up for customising help). Congratulations Harry, you are now a Jurymember!
Most informative was the answer by Robbie Marenzi: 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe. Could be one of the 23.754 Model P11, or one of the 15.862 Model P11D, or one of the 23.851 Model P12. Engine 201.3 CID, 87 BHP at 3800 rpm, side valve, inline six, optional aluminium head. 117 in. wheel base, length 194-3/4 in., three speed transmission, column mounted lever. Distinct feature are the parrot beak bonnet, the 1940 was straight, the three lines on the rear mudguards, indicate it is not a Dodge, the vertical tail lights mean it is not 1942 which had horizontal lights. Split rear window was confusing until it became obvious it’s modified. Thank you Robbie.
