About Quiz # 324: "Peugeot 402" is an entry ticket only...

peugeot 402_l_f4t_460
The amount of responses on the ill fated Peugeot didn't surprise us. Of all competitors no less than 34 were correct in attaching the name Peugeot and type 402 to the remains presented by us. So that alone was no more than an entry ticket to the game. We learned lots of new facts about the 402 over the last week and we like to express special thanks to Classic Jaap (also owner of the car), to Philippe Machard de Gramont, John Elema and Hans Compter for sending valuable extra information. The series 402 is slightly more than a model, it is a complete series ranging from standard sedan, long wheel base limousine, 2 door coupe, drophead coupe, roadster, fixed head convertible (the famous Eclipse), up to the Darl'Mat, which is not in this factory overview as published in 1954. For some time we thought that 'our' berline, which was a taxi once, is one of the very rare  402 L / T4 versions, (L for Longue / T for Taxi!). However our car has chassis number # 619433 which is outside the Taxi-series. Finally, yesterday late we received confirmation that body number plate #4403 has the subscript F4T.  In our view the competitor claiming that the car must be a 402L coach, of the type  'N4T' or 'F4T' was best by far. The  "F4T" is described by the factory as: "Limousine Luxe 4p. 8 pl. avec chauffage-dégrivage"... Congratulations John Elema!
