About Quiz # 336 : post-1925 Imperia 11/24

Our hints appeared to be helpful this time. Much more than expected, no less than six competitors and one jurymember were correct in naming the the belgian marque. As said the  second view on the car didn't give a lot of extra info. For most the giveaways were the sum of the radiator shape, the lenght and 7 louvres of the bonnet, the five wheel bolts, the post 1925 front brakes and some minor details. We received lots of info regarding the engine: a four cylinder slide valve (not Knight, not sleeve valve, not 'sans soupapes'). Best two by far were Stefan Ittner and Pug Vogler from Los Angeles. The latter came up with the most complete and correct answer: "Imperia 11/24. I am guessing from the year 1926. It was powered by a counter-clockwise rotating, slide-valve, four-cylinder engine designed by Arnold Couchard. The factory in which the Imperia was produced originally housed the Pieper automobile, a gas/electric hybrid. Recently, the Belgian brand(Imperia) has been revived with a plan to create a new hybrid powered gas/electric sports car called the Imperia GP." Congratulations Pug! Be sure to provide us with your shirt size and address and we will send out the PreWarCar T-shirt.

(Mathieu Cuppens, thanks a lot for sending these photos ! )
