About quiz #346: 1905-1908 Panhard et Levassor 15 cv

Only one correct  answer  this week. Wasn´t a too difficult car, maybe it was a lack of good hints. Maybe the overdosis of men hanging all over. but perhaps there were too many people on it covering some of the most important details, but not all of them! Another problem came when jury member Ariejan Bos, the only one who came to the right marque, mentioned that the model year could be 1908. However, your editor was convinced that the model year was 1903-1904 and we contacted with Ariejan directly, who told us:

"I decided for 1908 because of the (very vague!) picture I had from a P&L 1908 brochure of their commercial vehicles. Many details are alike: the inclination and position of the steering column, the position of the small chain wheel, the pattern of the engine and running gear below the chassis, the form and size of the louvres in the side of the bonnet and finally the overall size and dimensions of the car. However, the 1905 ad of a cab-like vehicle I have added makes me doubt. Maybe there weren't many fundamental differences between 1905 and 1908? The 8cv engine was produced between 1903 and 1909, the 15cv engine between 1904 and 1908. Still I'm inclined to think, that the car is not much earlier than 1908, maybe 1907 or 1906, but the fact that the front of the car can't be seen will make it difficult to date it more exact".

In short we decided that the quiz car is a 1905-08 15 cv Panhard et Levassor thanks to Mr Bos´s explanations.
