About Quiz #419 - 1899 Amédée Bollée Type D

Amedee bollee_JvG-470

Last week's quiz was about a car built by someone who came from a engineering family. There were several correct answers about the Marque. It was indeed an Amédée Bollée fils, the son. Unlike the products built by his father - you may have seen the amazing machines at this year's Rétromobile - this car didn't have a steam engine but a horizontal 2 cylinder petrol engine right under the radiator with as a most interesting feature the fact the pistons move simultaneously.
The type of the car is a Type D and it was manufactured in 1899.
Despite that we gave the name of the coachbuilder it seemed very hard for the competitors to produce more information about the six passenger coachwork. Only the address was appeared in the answers given by two competitors. Unfortunately, we don't have any further information as well. So, we are still very curious if somebody out there knows more about the carrosssier Gaston Dauplay from Le Mans.

The winner of this week's quiz is Stefan Ittner. So Stefan, congratulations with your third victory. The PreWarCar.com T-shirt is on its way to Germany!

The car on the picture will be present on the PreWarCar-PostWarClassic stand at Concours Het Loo in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
