Mrs. Summerville's Roamer - Duesenberg (about # 154)

We never promised you an easy Quiz. And you almost never get one. But we were surprised so little among you didn't recognise a Duesenberg,... in disguise! To be exact only one of you had it right, verrrry right. He wrote: "It is a 1919-22 Duesenberg of either 300 C.I. 8 (early) or 183 C.I. 8 which they had running in the fall of 1920. All of the chassis details have been compared with early
photos and is a perfect match. The shape of the radiator tells me that
it may have been one of the cars that were built and raced to promote
the Roamer which has the same radiator shape and had a Rochester-Duesey
engine." Congratulations David Greenlees !!! Don't feel bad if you were wrong this time, if there are five people on this globe to know, David is one of them. Check one of his earlier writings about the 'walking beam' Duesy
he restored. In fact he is wrapping that particular car at the moment for a test during Goodwood's Festival of Speed... The fast Roamer lady is a Mrs. Summerville. David Greenlees can surely tell you if she is a famous Duesey driver... talking about Roamers, there are two
on the market at the moment. The one in Holland is the one depicted in your older Georgano. At this point we want to express very special thanks to Dale LaFollette of
VintageMotorphoto.com (a must visit!) for borrowing us this brilliant photo.
