Quiz ArchiveWhat is it? # 125 (UPDATE)
Update:This was a very interesting one. A thirties US-made car that is far from wellknown. Much better known was the widely used Continental engine under the hood. The carmake Continental lived only very short. Just like the no less than four (!) preceding manufacturers who tried to start a Continental business.
We had five entires with most of the facts all right. We have the policy that the best answers wins. But this doe not always means that adding ,more info means more chance. We are cvery strict with adding information which is not correct. In that case the old law applies counts: More is Less. Less is More.
Several candidates came up with the right Make: Contionental, Year: 1933 and Type: ACE Deluxe Big Six. However there were differences. One added "JAC" to the type of car, which is a photo credit in the Standard Catalogue of American cars..... . We don't accept non-information so this competitor dropped off. Then we had two candidates with almost equal answers. In the end Gerard Lansink won with a more complete and correct type description: ACE Deluxe Big Six. Congratulations Gerard ! The Continental version of a flying lady was a factory original. Check: Mascot-mania for a litte training... ;-)) See you all after Hershey! EARLIER TEXT: It is a Dutch snapshot. Did you know the Hollywood expression 'Dutch angle' or the verb 'to dutch'. It means giving the camera an angle to get more swing to the picture. Probably an invention of director Jan de Bont (Entertainment.msn.com). About the quiz: the car looks like a high volume car, yet it is a low volume car. Now most of you are so terribly good in car-spotting that we fear that even the smallest hint is too much. Still we give you something: the inside was a succes, the outside not. Well that should do the job ;-) We wish you luck. Hershey's on our mind so we don't expect you to be brilliant this weekend. Only the best answer will win the PreWarCar/Roadmap vest. Tell us 1. the make 2. the Year 3. the Model/Type 4. is the hood mascot a factory one or an aftermarket accesoire?
