What is it? # 156 (UPDATE: 1924 Barley)

UPDATE: Car # 156 has no Lycoming 6 but a Continental 6 under the bonnet.... Mea Culpa / Our fault, sorry ! Nevertheless Peter Pegg, John Barringer, David Reed and Leif Holmberg all agreed that this must be a survivor of the short living make Barley, from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Both John and Leif went as far in correcting us about the engine...Applause! Still we think that Peter Pegg and David Reed did better by making the relation Roamer from our very recent quiz. In the end we decided David Reed scored best with:

"The company, announced on August 7, 1922 during a speech at Kalamazoo, Michigan Exchange Club by George Hopkins. This was going to be a less expensive, not as prestigious as his other company, Roamer Car Co. The car in the puzzel is a 5 passenger Touring introduced September 1922. The 1924 model was what George said it would not be: a Roamer model 6-50, Of interest, a taxicab from the beginning carring the Barley badge but in 1923 it became the Pennant. The Pennant taxicab lasted until 1925, one year longer that the Barley passenger car."
David, congratulations !

(photo by John Apen; you may be interested to read his review on the top ten most expensive auction cars ever in Forbes Autos) EARLIER TEXT: It is an American car. It was on the market only two or three years and probably this is the only or one of the very few survivors of the make. The man who created this make also was the mastermind behind another brandname, that is just a little bit better known (particularly in the minds of frequent Prewarcar visitors). Technically the car is not very interesting. The usual set up with a Lycoming 6 under the bonnet. Click the photo for more detail. This time we did not erase information from the car's surface. Only the best answer will win the Roadmap / PreWarCar gillet.
