What is it ? # 51 (UPDATE)

We tried to distract you with a few lines pushing you into a German direction. This out of fear that it would be too simple for the readers that are knowledgeable in American Cars. We were not able to fool enough of you! Three respondents were right about the make Kissel from Hartford, Wisconsin. But yes, indeed a German sounding name. The year is not 100 % clear. Only one of you who took the courgage to name 1928, so he is the winner: Tom Chaney. Congratulations! Jon Baker had a lot of interesting details to tell but forgot to take a gamble with the year. Keep in mind to work this order: 1. Make 2. Year. 3 Type. 4. Details .... Anyway the body is not perfectly clear as well. Jon Baker claims it to be the "All Year Coupe Roadster" Tom Chaney says: "The body style appears to be a cabriolet style. From the angle it's difficult to determine. Is that a custom job by Glaser? " Jury-member Kit Foster says:" I believe to be a EuroKissel (I'm making up that name). It has European style headlamps (no Kissel in Val Quandt's book _The Classic Kissel Automobile_ has them). The body, I think, is also European." So, German after all? Anyway the resemblance with this: 1927 Kissel Roadster is remarkable. Next Saturday a new challenge! (photo collection Eduard Hattuma) EARLIER TEXT: A typical German license plate. The photo being taken somewhere near the Schwarzwald or nearby in the late thirties. It must have been a Sunday outing, but now what again was that car? Where have you seen that one before? During your last trip to Europe? Or where was it? Let the little gray cells work for their daily living and send us your answer in order to win the still infamous PreWarCar T-shirt. We will judge entries by 1. Make. 2 Year. 3 Type. 4. Details. Send your answer before 10 February 2003 to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and please add # 51 in the subject line.
