What is it? # 54 (UPDATE: Sunbeam, )

The brochure illustrations are showing a Sunbeam 24-60 H.P. 4 seater Light Touring Car coachwork as opposed to the very similar but not identical Brewster body of the 1923 car that is for sale at www. Rollingart.com currently (see Editor's Choice). Peter Ransom (owner of an identical car like # 54 illustration) writes: " The Brewster has some significant differences: the runningboard is below the hubs, there's a deep valance panel to hide the chassis and the doors are very rectangular. The factory Sunbeam body (his car) is deliberately built with a high running board (it's even mentioned in the catalogue - attached) and no valance to emphasise the long sleek lines. The car could be either 1922 or 1923 as in 1924 frontwheelbrakes became standard. " Based on correct make, correct type, correct coachwork and correct year(s) we have our first THREE time winner in a ROW: Mike Clark !
(illustrations of Sunbeam factory brochure, collection Peter Ransom) EARLIER TEXT: We will try to find new groups of winners for our weekly quiz. So this time a somewhat less away from the ordinary car. Not exactly a car you will find in dozens, but more likely just one dozen that is still in orbit somewhere around this strange, strange planet. We know at least one of these is to be found in Australia. To make life even more easy we stripped of the sporty coachwork in order to let you check the chassis. So in order to win the PreWarCar T-shirt send your answer before 00,00 hrs. 3 March to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please, please add # 54 in the subject line. In order to discriminate between competitors we will look for 1. the make 2. the type 3. the coachwork 4. the year ; in this order.
