What is it? # 57 (UPDATE: 19 year old winner!))

A new phenomenon occurs. # 57 had only one man in with the right make. Nothing much special about that, BUT... this young man is 19, right Raul? Many times already he came along with very near answers. Two or three weeks ago he said I should prepare a mailpack for him.....! Raul Valkila came up with 1938 or 1939 Salmson. Model S 4 E or S 4-61. Not one of the others came near him! Check the S 461 gallery of the 'Amicale Salmson'. The S-461 berline was introduced in 1938 and stayed in production without any differences until 1947.... The hubcaps of our photo are the same, only slightly different detailing of the hood louvres. Hope to see you all again next Saturday! But watch out with these young competitors. (photo collection editor : 'International Automobile Photos' Minneapolis, USA ; according to Kit Foster they vanished in the mist of time. Fred Roe already bought photos from them back in the 1940s.) At last! A straightforward, standard, run-of-the mill car again. No tricks. No hidden nonsense. No Tibetan parallel licence production. It's what it is and that's all, so no need to be a top expert to win the infamous PreWarCar T-shirt this weekend. Just one small "But,..." , .... it has not exactly been produced in zillions. Click photo for enlarged detail. We warned our webmaster for massive mail bursts that may come in. Just tell us 1. the make 2. the year 3. the type. 4. what is the location.
