What is it? # 59 (UPDATE: Hillman Straight 8)

We have to be carefull that our Competition is not going to slide away into something for a less than 50 persons large elite group of connoisseurs. Anyway how can a medium knowledgeable fan of the more than 60 year gone carmarket ever know of a car of which less than 10 have been produced? Possibly by spelling out the For Sale columns of the April issue of "The Automobile", where this car was to be found as I understand (without knowing before). Anyway - yes - this is a 1929 Hillman Straight 8. And yes we have a new jurymember again, congratulations Mike Tebbett (UK)! Please send me all your ideas how to keep this competition a vivid one. For starters we need hard to recognise cars from other countries than France, the UK and US. (photo courtesy Historic Vintage Restorations, Australia) It is a British dashboard showing several nice Smiths facia. Chances are high that you never have seen this prewar specimen (we took out the radiator badge) but that you do know the make quite eh... well. This specific model never really made it. Total production probably doesn't exceed the amount of cylinders it has under de hood. In order to win the infamous PreWarCar T-shirt you should send your answer to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it before Monday 7 April. We will judge for 1. Make 2. Type 3. Year. Please add # 59 to the subject line.
