What is it? # 67 (UPDATE II: Charonette )

UPDATE II: After long discussions and several interviews we came to the conclusion that there must have been atleast two of these cars. The Dutch registered 1921 Charron model TA that was to be seen in our little competition. The other one that was found 15 years ago in London (see The Automobile,June 2003). We also decided the the earlier mentioned Frenchman is the winner. He was the only one who didn't remember the car from The Automobile, but from true memory. Congratulations Frédéric Viginier!

UPDATE I : Except for one French competitor all participants answered 1923 Charron/Charronnette with FHC special coachwork. This for the simple reason that the June 2003 issue of The Automobile reported about a remarkably similar car. This to the amazement of Dutchman Willem Sas who lives in the UK. The car pictured above (a 1921 Charron TA) disappeared about 20 years ago. Let's hope that the car found in a London attic 15 years ago is not Willem's car. Willem still has all the ID-papers of his car that originally was delivered new in Holland.... It may be interesting to compare his chassis number with the one shown in The Automobile. Check the rearview of Willem's Charronette .(photos: collection Willem Sas - click here to enlarge). EARLIER TEXT: It's like a saloon version of Donald Duck's car. A 3D and live Cartoon. Yet it is far from all that. It is a very real car, but not the kind of coachwork that tends to survive decades of rain & rot. To make life easy for you we didn't take out the logo for a change. So that part is for free, that is to say when you are among the happy few to recognise it. Then the hard part. The year, okay, that's an easy guess. The type, that's another thing. Last but not least, who will tell us what kind of coachwork we have here? If you want to win the infamous PreWarCar T-shirt proceed like this: send your answer before Monday 26 May to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
