What is it ? # 97 (UPDATE: 1939 GMC)

At last a simple one, but we found that the competition wasn't feeling that comfortable. And right they were! Ok, it was easy to say it was a GMC. Most people had no problem with pointing out the year range 1939-1940. It is a 1939 by the way. Kit Foster pointed out "... it is a '39 because it doesn't have fender mounted sidelights ('40s had sealed-beam headlamps, so needed the sidelight. '39s had their parking bulbs in the headlamp.)" Then came the type... Surprisingly no less than 5 competitors came up with AC-102. Even a few ones who had that right in combination wioth the year. Yet we had only one explaining what was so hard with that. This is the super rare 1/2 ton long wheelbase, which according to Paul DeLucchi came only in '39. Nevertheless, Paul was hesitant in giving a single year to the car, which made somebody else a winner who thought he never would. He came in with: "Here we go again... (sigh!) 1. GMC 2. 1939 3. 1/2 ton pickup, Model AC 102...... 100% correct! Congratulations George T.Cassidy ! (photo courtesy JP; click for more detail) It's a mahogany canoe. One of our readers bought it at an auction in Paris and than took it home to the US. As normal luggage of course, believe it or not. The lady at the NorthWest counter in Paris didn't believe it either,... first. Anyway, let's talk about the trolley... You probably recognise it instantly, so no hints. We can only say, think twice, take care... beware. All you need to tell us is: 1. the Make. 2 the Year. 3. the Type (very precise please!).
