Where is it? #153 (Update: Indianapolis / 1897 C.H. Black)

One jurymember claimed this quiz was too easy... And yes, just like all other competitors he found the postcard is depicting Indianapolis. However, the second question about the earliest automotive fact of this town gave more diversity between competitors. True, in 1911 the Indy 500 was on. Sponsored by Firestone and won by Ray Harroun. But we all know that before a race is held the automobiles have arrived already some time earlier... So there must be more early automotive facts. Several among you mentioned Marmon which started production in 1902. Kim Koffman wrote :"There have been at least forty brands of automobiles manufactured there, starting in the late 1890s. The earliest automobiles that are noted are the (electric) Waverly and the (gas electric!) Munson in 1898." The above is to our feeling a very good answer, but... jurymember Mark Dawber came up with the make Indianapolis / C.H. Black, which started - depending on which sources you check - somewhere between 1896 and 1898. According to the Standard Catalogue it was 1897, which made us decide Dick Trenk as winner: congratulations Dick! (postcard courtesy Horwitz Collection) EARLIER: This is in the US. The street is called North Street, so now you only have to find the city. But okay, we'll give you a little extra help. We are in a town that is not especially remembered for quiet touring on Sundays. Far from that! Yet it is loved by about everybody, no? everybody, who is crazy with motoring and has no shortage of gasoline in his veins. Apart from the name of the town we would like to hear from you the first automotive fact you know of this town. Just like last time, the best answer will win. Rules:
