Power on the Via Flaminia

Author: Bart Kleyn Thursday, 24 June 2010

 DSC_2422_2

Which rally car would you take for the 1600 km Via Flaminia rally over the smallest roads, which the mountainous area of central Italy has to offer ? These competitors chose for the ever-reliable Fiat 500. Note the suicide doors !

The car was modified on purpose by www.RuudRugzakgarage.nl

Got it for free

I was given this 1954 Light 15 in 2005 after having resurrected the owner's 1948 Light 15 but there was a slight catch. It was in a barn in Quebec, up on the second floor since 1976 after having been imported from Botswana. The ramp had rotted away leaving the car isolated. She said, "If you can get the car out of the barn, it's yours." Mice made it home, the paint was falling off, but there was no rust at all. I had a bridge built, the car hauled out and five years later, this is what it looks like. Recent paint, new chrome, new leather, all mechanicals rebuilt. What's not to like?

A fifties pick-up in perfect condition is a rare sight, but not really-really rare.
But to see one doing what is was built for - I mean for pickung up stuff - that's a really rare sight. This one is taking a fig tree home

170S Cabriolet - Seeking Current Owner

Author: David Kerr Thursday, 13 May 2010

Greetings,

I'm hoping someone can help me locate the current owner of this car - a 1950 Mercedes 170S Cabriolet that came to the states in 1957 and was sold in Niagara Falls in 1958.  Past owner has some old photos and history to present to the present owner.

Thanks, David Kerr

Lancia is sponsoring the Via Flaminia

Author: Joris Bergsma Tuesday, 11 May 2010

For five consecutive years Fiat Auto Nederland did provide a Lancia to the Via Flaminia Rally in Italy. This year it is the turn to Turino to provide one Lancia Delta to each edition of the Via Flaminia. A fine and distinguished car indeed.

editor JB:  dear Bart, fine new Delta, but where's the classic? Now don't come up with the cliché story that any Lancia is a classic in the brochure... So next time an old car again please. And that aside we also hope to hear what is the exact type. Do we have a Diesel here?
