1954 Auto Union Typ F91 Karmann Kabriolett
I found this very rare 1954 Auto Union Typ 91 Karmann Kabriolett through a article in a german classic car magazine, that was spring 2009. Soon I made contact with the owner, who turned out to be a portugese car-nut with 300 beautiful classics sitting in several building in and around Lissabon. This DKW was in good shape but engine and brakes had to be reconditioned, which I did after buying it on the spot. The car arrived a few weeks later on a truck and I started working on it. I bought a new engine in Germany and replaced all brake- and mastercylinders, that were still original but all seized. Early 2010 I finished replacing and restoring and after greasing-up the chassis me and my green friend were ready to hit the road again. After 25 years of standing around in basements, the car is now out and into the spring sunshine again. The only thing I added to the interior is a St. Christophel badge for good luck and a very cute BOSCH central placed antenna with a GRUNDIG radio. If you see me drive on some road in Europe, please wave :-)
