The MagazineThe mystery Aprilia before it lost its nose. (UPDATE: sliding pillars?) It took nearly a month but the right people were reached and the result is there: " It is the 1100cc Lancia Special that HansFischhaber campaigned in the 1953 German sportscar championship. (For racing the windscreen was of course replaced by an aeroscreen.) The car was crashed at the second round at the Avus on July 12 and Fischhaber reverted to his old 1500cc car for the rest of the season. However, the1100cc car was not scrapped, but rebuilt with a new nose. This is probably what gave rise to the rumor that two cars were built." See Peter Vack's Full report at Veloce Today Comments (1)
A one eyed CinqueCento![]() Spotted in the city of Amsterdam. This Fiat 'Embryo' . Like the artist Olaf Mooy states "The The Fiat 500 is reduced to an embryo, safely staying in the womb, already nourished by influences form outside. The birth is on its way, a new life is emerging. The car is about to get a face, a personality." (photos by editor JB)
A Barracuda Mystery? (UPDATE: 1966 Formula S)![]() Picked up from a box of leftovers at a sale. The Barracuda makes makes one think of a brave warrior in tropical seas. Not sure what the plymouth marketees had in mind. The Barracuda looked like a fastback version of the far from sporty Valiant. I remember they were a rare appearance here in Europe, still there was one "swimming" slowly along about weekly. This was in the early seventies I guess. Wouldn't be suprised if this badge came from that car. But can any of you date this badge? When I look up the Barracuda with Google images I can't get the model to fit this badge. UPDATE: thnx Karn , now I found the Cuda right nose...! (click)
Any color, as long it is O.....![]() If you know the Dutch, if you have ever been in Holland during a World Championship, you would know that these days only one color is allowed in the otherwise green-green country. If this is not exactly your taste, too bad for you. Better come back after Sunday when the final match Spain-Holland has produced the right result.
