Begin the year good and send this postcard to a friend. How? First open the enlargement by clicking the illustration. Now when the cursor is on the picture, click the right part of your mouse. Now 'drag' the pic into a new e-mail message by keeping the right part of your mouse pressed and moving it towards the body of the e-mail message where you release the mouse button. When you master this action, you can 'steal' any photo from this and most other website and add it to your personal collection. Hope you enjoy the first day of this fresh year. ( 1910 postcard from collection Hans Horwitz)
Have a look at this lucky bastard's wheels. He was the last one to send in his private sale photo in 2002 and by doing so, unvoluntary risked to get the attention of all pre 1940 enthusiasts of the world... for one day. A 1941 Caddy with custom wire wheels, enlarged(?) indicator lights and lowered springs. Yet with a very stanf\dard "feel". See for more details our Cadillac sales page nr. 3. Wish you all the max for this few remaining hours of 2002 and all what you can dream of in 2003. Sincerely your's, editor Joris.(photo courtesy seller)
UPDATE: Happy New Year!!! 2003 has just begun in Wellington, New Zealand (GreanwichMeanTime.com)
Just this morning we were informed about the partial collapse of the main building (Volkskrant.nl) of the deserted 1866 built West pier of Brighton, UK. A 40 million Euro restauration of the pier that was built for just GBP 30,000 was planned for 2003... Photos of the West Pier like it used to be(HeritageTrail.co.uk) before this weekend. Very near to the piers the motorcars participating in the yearly London to Brighton Veteran Car Run used to have their Finish. See this 2002 finish photo of the 1903 Daimler of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. We are looking for a first hand report of somebody who has been visiting the Pier before 1940. Two photos taken shortly after each other are like an ultra short movie and always will tell far more than a first glance will reveal. Here is the first of two photos of an early Buick. What's wrong with the guy? Expert Terry Dunham says: "I think the Buick pictured in the photos is a 1910 Model 16. The images are very good and show unusually good detail for an original photograph this old.
It would be fascinating to know what the occasion was for the pictures to
have been taken in the first place. I am sure we will never know....." Paul 'PreWarBuick' DeLucchi does agree about the type of Buick but comments about the two photos that they are probably the result of an 'afternoon refreshment' (who ever said Americans don't know anything about understatement?) Click here and make your own judgement. (photos from the collection of David Coco)
That means South in Spanish and Chili is South, a bit more South and lots more South if you want. The photo was sent to us by Rutger Booij who used to live there for several years. "I found this deserted beauty in a backstreet in Southern Chile. Except for the flat tires she looked like she still could be driven away any moment. As far as I can remember it’s a Plymouth of 1931 vintage 1931 vintage (www.Ply33.com) but please correct me if I’m wrong. If you wonder if it’s for sale, you’ll have to go to the lovely little town of Frutillar on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, but remember to brush up your Spanish before you go to El Sur de Chile (JoesKitchen.com).”
With the last competition of the year we did everything to make life hard for you. But nothing will help. You all are so damn knowledgeable...! Fortunately we had only one competitor really coming close. He didn't listen do my non-information about a 1914 magazine. He didn't believe my enlargment URL about the famous 1914 Russo Baltique (scale model built by Gerald Wingrove and from The Wingrove collection) and claimed: "I would say 1930-31
model A Ford. It looks like it has 19" wheels on the
back. Maybe a 34 grill shell and a home made body." In fact all wrong, yet most close to the real answer by Andrei Bogomolov:"This is GAZ-A Sport handmade in 1937 by A.I.Girel from Leningrad. It is not made from Ford but from GAZ parts, but GAZ-A was a licence built Ford-A here in USSR. But as this car is from 1937, it already has the grille of
the new generation model - GAZ-M1 (not exact, but almost a copy of the 1933 Ford. For instance GAZ-M1 grille was ifferent)." Thank you Andrei, congratulatiosn Wayne! (photo collection Nikolay Alexandrov)

Waving at the days behind you. Waving at the year added to the age of your car. Waving at the other 51 ladies, girls and matrones that cheered up our Fridays. Sending us their irresistable, unspoilt veteran smile that no modern girl could copy. Alas, the ladies of our times bring things that those ladies couldn't have copied either. Every year, every decade, every centennial has it's own strength. Check for reference C.M. Brady's page: Bad Girls. (this postcard from collection Hans Horwitz)
Illustator Archie Gunn (1862-1930) is wishing you a wonderfull Christmas with this 1910 postcard. By clicking the next blue words you can enjoy a slightly larger version. Let's hope this world will see a few peaceful Christmas days. One of our most frequent writers Bas de Voogd did send this very rare Dutch White Christmas photos. (postcard collection Hans Horwitz)
Very, very friendly people Down Under !!! Craig Nielsen Little sent us this Christmas gift: a Felber & Fils bodied 2 L Ballot from the early twenties. The rear end is not bad either. Of course we may not complain for one second at such a gift, but we are slightly disappointed that the very subtle mascot the Ballot Trumpeter (Tony's top 50 Mascots) is missing... This silver angel with the car would have made the perfect picture. Thanks anyway, Craig!
We slow down a bit these last days of 2002. Just showing a few cars we stumbled across very recently. Like this massive "under construction" 1923 Isotta Fraschini straight eight. Now to be inspected & for sale at AutomusA.nl. Now what I would klike to ask you, what would be the most practical, usable, economical & fast prewar editor's car in your view? We are not going to buy at the moment, we just need suggestions. Your ideas are very welcome. (photo by editor)
