Show your pre-war car
This is a 1922 G.N. Akela Race Car. It was the spare car for G.N. in the 1922 Brooklands 200 mile race. I purchased it from the sale of the Stafford-East cars at the Beaulieu in September 2008. The first three images were taken as purchased. It has been a lengthy rebuild and a very thorough one. The last four images were taken after three years of rebuilding. It now has the Castrol R flowing and is very close to being 'fired up'. It is overhead camshaft with four valves and two spark plugs per cylinder, two magnetos and two carbs. It has four forward speeds and no reverse. I am hoping to run it in Hillclimbs and sprints this season. Although 90 years old we are expecting a good turn of speed. |
