Rear brake issue with Peugeot 172 M

Sir,
I am rebuilding a 1928 Peugeot 172 M  Normandy Cart and wonder if any reader has knowledge of how to remove the rear brake drums - I assume that
as they are well on and will not move at all with light persuasion after removing the castle nut on the half shaft that I will have use a puller on the  wheel  studs with the push on the end of the half shaft but before I try and do irreparable damage I would be pleased to hear from a reader who has first hand knowledge
