Spot a pre-war car
Repousse work is the creation of 3 dimensional shapes out of a single piece of metal by the use of traditional embossing and chasing techniques and has been made in various forms for thousands of years from jewellery to tableware, decorating suits of armour to pictures.
Paul Pennell like his late Father is a lifelong traditional panel beater who has made one off hand made wings and bodies in steel and aluminium for many important cars over the years.
In 2009 he started Artistry in Aluminium where he adapted his technique to make large scale Repousse work pictures in aluminium and is unique in both the Art and Motoring World and all his pictures are made entirely by hand using only basic hand tools and a leather sandbag which may seem amazing but is true and the 3 dimensional shapes give stunning reflections.
Paul's recent commissions range from a Derby Bentley to the latest Mercedes Actros Truck and the new coachbuilt six door Jaguar Limousine, if you would like a one off picture of your treasured car hand beaten out of 1mm aluminium visit Paul's website www.artistryinaluminium.co.uk for more details of his work. |
