About Quiz # 228: 1917 Elcar
Those of you who are good at using search engines would have found our Quiz car very easily. We are not promoting one search engine or another, but if you would have used Google Books and just typed in The Car for the Many it would have given you a whole book of answers! So far only jury member Bart Oosterling came up with this idea. We received four correct answers from Reg Harris, Peter Ransom, Don Risen and Frans Vrijaldenhoven. All claimed it was the Elcar made by the Pratt Brothers, William B. and George B. They had previously the built Pratt-Elkhart and then Pratt motor cars as a family business from 1909, but reorganized in 1915 to become the Elkhart Carriage and Motor Car Company. The trouble starts with the year our Elcar was built as all four entrants mentioned a different year. This is the 1917 model, correctly identified by Peter Ransom, who not only scores his third win, but now also joins our long list of Jurymembers. Congratulations Peter, your size XL is on its way to Australia! (RB)
