Concours candidate ?
When you're not into Rollses, all Royces are alike. Wrong !!! The Great Marque has more to offer than superior quality plus an arrogant radiator. More than mere stiff upper lip design. The early Rolls-Royces were sleek, fast touring cars for the young and angry, not for the old and trembling. Made for speed & success. Not for embassy style chit-chat. After almost two decades of Silver Ghost successes, the Phantom I had to write a new chapter. With that in mind four experimental almost identical cars were built one after another. The target was 100 mph. Maybe they didn't get as close as engineer Ivan Evernden had in mind. Nevertheless, after its testing career 10EX (the first of the four) remained one of the most popular cars for personnel. It was probably the same attraction that made Lawrence of Arabia decide to borrow this car for a continental tour. In 1931 10EX was sold 'second hand' and now has come to the market once more. Let's hope it will not end as a trailer queen with only golfcourse grass under its tyres. We hope to see the car back at Brooklands or at long and fast continental tours.
