The highlights of Salon Rétromobile

It is just impossible to highlight Salon Rétromobile 2020 in one sentence. Also, the 45th edition of this international classic car event had some very impressive PreWars on display.

Alfa Romeo certainly had a good 110th birthday celebration in Paris! On display the first model from 1910. The 24 HP Alfa designed by engineer Giuseppe Merosi - see pictures.

But also, Lukas Hüni gave a tribute everyone talked about. We have never seen so many Alfa Romeo`s (6s, 8s, PostWar Alfa`s you name it) together in our whole life! With, if you ask us, the 1935 Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo SF48 Bimotore as the cherry on the cake. Featuring 2 Tipo B engines of 3165cc. One engine placed in front of the driver and one behind (facing to the rear). With two crank handles and 540 HP! In June 1935 Nuvolari set a land speed record on the Firenze-Lucca, his top speed on the second run…362 km per hour! What a machine!

Something totally different, but certainly not less impressive was the eclectic Bugatti Type 56 on display at the stand of the FFVE (Fédération Française des Véhicules d'Epoque). Type 56 is powered by 6 batteries of 6V and until you see the badge you probably do not recognise the car as being a Bugatti – see pictures.

We earlier already told you about the beautiful original 1891 steam-powered dos-à-dos exhibited by Château de Compiègne National Car Museum. This turned out to be a Henriot - see pictures. Not a De Dion, what the first thought was. Then there was also a beautiful 1924 Cognet-de-Seynes Torpedo on display. And the corridor between Hall 1 and 2 give us a wonderful overview of Tatra’s history with a number of exceptional Tatra vehicles on display.

This was just a handful of the in total 1000 vehicles on display in Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Have a look at the pictures to see more PreWarCars and PostWarClassics that were on display.

At the PreWarCar.com & PostWarClassic.com we met a lot of classic car enthusiasts and were very successful in our search for more information about the history of the Lancia Astura. We met some very interesting people who could tell us more about the car. Some of them came especially to Paris to see the car. Later this week we will elaborate on this.

Next year we will, of course, be there again and hope to see you all at the PWC stand!
