Hello,
Since a long time we own a 1901-1903 (we don’t know the exact year) Aster, made in France, but we have no information about the car, the engine and so on.
I need information for how to adjust the engine. The thing is that it has no normal accelerator pedal. It just has notches to fix it in several positions. The engine is an Aster “Automatic” Type 25 N with 14hp. It works like a motor in a mowing machine. When the engine comes under load, it starts to accelerate until it has fixed revolutions per minute, but I have no idea how I can adjust it so that it works. I have the problem that the engine has not enough power to get the car in motion. When I release the clutch, the engine does not start to accelerate but goes off. Timing is, of course, enough in the advanced position.
If somebody has information how it all works, a shop manual or something like that, it would be great to hear about it.
I know that Aster mainly just built engines for several car companies so perhaps someone has a car where such an engine sits and could help me.
Thanks for your help,
Tom
