A kiss before dying

This is one very appropriate picture for today. Or perhaps it isn’t. Why? That young couple is clearly in love and what better way to illustrate today’s theme – the International Day of Friendship in this way?

Well, there is one very dark undertone in this shot. The United Nations, which have come up with the idea of the Day of Friendship say: “Our world faces many challenges, crises and forces of division - such as poverty, violence, and human rights abuses that undermine peace, security, development and social harmony among the world's peoples. To confront these, their root causes must be addressed by promoting and defending a shared spirit of human solidarity that takes many forms — the simplest of which is friendship.”

Warm words, which seem to fit in so well with the above image. Until you know the darker side of this image. Do you..?

I believe it is Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow sitting on a 1928 Marmon sedan that belonged to Clyde's brother Buck. However it is not the car in which they died, that was a Ford sedan.

For there to be a dark side this must be Bonny and Clyde . I would prefer to believe it is not.

I think the two in the photograph are Bonnie and Clyde...the real couple, this isn't from the film. Dark indeed.

I'm going to guess that they are Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, infamous outlaws of the 1930s.

Bonnie and Clyde, of course. And obviously taken before they died in a hail of bullets. Dig around a bit and you'll find that this is not the car in which they were ambushed.
