This was taken in the yard beneath a garage in Brittany in about 1961. Sadly I was on holiday touring in our 328 BMW so couldn't contemplate making an offer!

As to your article on David Smutny and the next generation I would like to suggest that we have to do only one thing... open our arms and welcome them ! I see many clubs making ( unsuccessful) efforts to find young blood, but if these lads are not involved from their young age, or have no intrest in historic vehicles we shall not be able to make them join us . They have so many other activities and intrests ( may be too much) .
Although nobody in my family or friends were involved in old cars, at the age of 12 I was intrested , buying magazines was the only link... but it started everything. Nobody had to motivate me...I just wanted to.
Today young people can find info , much more than what I could find 50 years ago, if they want to join us they will do so !
Looking at the youngsters we meet today.... they are really involved... even if the number is small, they will garantee the future of our movement.
