The Milburn Wagon Company was established in 1848 as makers of horse-drawn vehicles. In 1909 the Ohio Electric was built in part of the Milburn factory, and this presumably paved the way for the production of Milburn cars, their own Milburn electric cars, which were first made in December 1914. The Milburn car were attractive to look at, having a lighter and more delicate appearance than most electrics. The Milburn car were largely closed cars, although a few roadsters were made as well. In 1919 two Milburn car models were made imitating the appearance of petrol cars; the Milburn cars were much less successful aesthetically than the undisguised electrics. Milburn cars were used by President Wilson’s secret service men, and were among the most popular American electric cars. Over 7.000 Milburn cars were made. Some lists quote Milburn as late as 1927.
