Early Baker cars had one ¾hp motor with a maximum speed of 17mph and a 50-mile range on a full battery charge. Later Baker car models for sale, such as the 1910 Baker limousine, had a false bonnet holding batteries, steering-wheel controls and a speed of 30mph, all for $3.000. A Baker-built Torpedo established a 1km speed record in 1902. The Baker company absorbed the R.M. Owen Co, makers of the Owen Magnetic, in 1915. Baker electric car production was among the most important in the US
This American steam car was more fancy than fact, although Baker roadster and Baker touring models, and also a Baker truck, were produced about 1921. Baker boilers, designed by Dr. H.O. Baker, were used successfully, however, as replacements on Stanley cars.
