The Jewett car, named after H.M. Jewett, president of the Paige-Detroit Motor Car Co., was in reality a smaller Paige, but the Jewett car was sold as a make of its own, mich as the Cleveland was sold as a smaller Chandler. The Jewett car was a well-liked car and many of its models, particularly the Jewett open phaetons, appeared with exceptionally fine and sporty lines. Nevertheless, Jewett car sales dimished and after more than 40.000 Jewett cars had been sold, the car was marketed as a Paige. Early Jewett cars had 4.1-litre engines but there was a small 2½-litre Jewet version, with front wheel brakes in 1925, and the last Jewett cars had hydraulic brakes.
