The first Lane car, Lane Model No. 1, was a four-seater with a 2-cylinder steam engine under the body. These Lane cars grew larger, with boilers under front bonnets, although all used 2-cylinder engines, later of compound type, up to 30hp and operating at 350psi. The last and largest Lane car model was on a 10ft 5in wheelbase. A total of 22 different Lane cars were built during the Lane car company’s manufacturing life.
