J. Majola was a maker of small high-efficiency engines before he turned to complete Majola cars. His first Majola car was the Majola Type A of 1911, a 1.300cc machine, designed by Doutre. This and the Majola Type B, a 1.000cc Majola car that was also made after World War 1, both had single-chain overhead camshafts driving inclined valves, and hemispherical combustion chambers. The Majola cars were beautifully made, very fast little cars. The 1.390cc Majola Type DT of 1921 had four forward speeds, and was current until 1927. So was the smaller Majola car, enlarged to 1.100cc, and renamed the Majola Type F in 1923. The last new Majola car was a cyclecar with an air-cooled flat-twin engine, introduced in 1927. The Majola car had been made by Georges Irat since at least 1920, and in 1928 was absorbed by them completely.
